Our Senior Pastor

Rev. John Fender has served in Pooler for over five years. He was born in Jesup, GA, spent most of his life in Glynn County, graduated from Mercer University with a business degree, then managed his father's grocery business on Jekyll Island for four years. He attended Covenant Theological Seminary and then the Lord called him to serve as a pastor in Marion, AL for three years. In 2005 he moved to Pooler to help start the First Presbyterian Church of Pooler.

John currently serves as the Chaplain of the Pooler Police Department.

Our Assistant Pastor

Rev. Matt Fray has been the Assistant Pastor of First Presbyterian Church since the Summer of 2009 and has a broad range of responsibilities including music and worship, children’s and youth ministries, and weekly preaching and teaching. He has lived all over the United States (New York, Florida, Texas, Missouri, and California), but is now glad to call Pooler, Georgia his home. Matt is a graduate of Covenant College (Lookout Mountain, Georgia) and Westminster Seminary in California (Escondido, California). He and his wife, Erin, have two children – Lydia and Hudson – and are expecting their third child in the Fall of 2010.

Temple Fennell moved to Pooler from Brunswick with her husband, Brad, and 2 children, Conner and Bellamy. She is a graduate of Virginia Tech and is from Salem, Va. She has a Bachelor of Science in Textiles and Clothing. As a child she was a competitive figure skater and has worked in the shoe, fitness, and weight loss industry.
